Buying a new car can be quite an ordeal. Here are a few quick tips to help with the process:
- Please call us before you buy. That way when your dealer contacts us for an insurance stamp so your car can be registered, you will have already authorized us to stamp the paperwork. Keep in mind that once you sign a dealer purchase contract, you typically cannot cancel the deal. We’re happy to figure out what it will cost to insure the new car before you make your final decision about the car purchase, plus we can make sure you have the coverage you need for your new vehicle. Your dealer will need our fax number – 508-436-6508 – to send over your documents. https://www.a-affordableinsurance.com/dealers-drive-program/
- If the most important things you should know is that Massachusetts is a title state, and our state law requires the dealer to sign the title over to you before you take the car home.
- You should also know that in certain very specific situations you can attach the plates from your old car to the new one. If you are 18 years or older and have sold, traded-in or junked (lost possession of) your old car, you may attach your plates to your new car for 7 days. Day 1 of the 7-day period is the day you signed over the title of your old car to someone else. If you do not meet this criteria, your new car must be registered with the RMV before you attach the plates.
